Spectator Guidelines for Sports

For this opening weekend, we are going to practice some spectator protocols for the football scrimmage (remember there is no game with Cody, just a series of plays for both teams to get some experience) and the volleyball games. This will allow us to see how the process is going to work so we can firm up the protocols for future events. It is imperative that spectators follow the requirements of the Wyoming High School Activities Association (WHSAA) in order for us to be able to hold events for our student athletes while keeping everyone safe and healthy. In the future, expect that parents may have “tickets” to contests to ensure their seats. Expect also that our venues may not be able to hold all the spectators who want to attend. The Activities Department is in the process of securing a license with NFHS Network to allow free viewing of all DHS broadcasted games.

What are we doing to keep students and staff safe?

The safety and health of our students and staff are at the top of our priority list right now. Although it’s impossible to eliminate all the risk related to COVID-19, Converse County School District #1 is taking all the precautions required by state or local health orders, the Wyoming Department of Education’s Smart Start guidance, and the Wyoming High School Activities Association recommendations for districts. We are implementing all scientifically-based recommendations that can be reasonably implemented while taking a balanced approach to ensuring students and staff are safe and education can be delivered in a way that engages and challenges students.
