Bus Rules and Regulations

  1. The right of students to ride a bus is based upon the continued observance of the rules and regulations. The conduct of the students must be such that the driver's attention is not diverted from his primary duty of safely transporting the students.
  2. The students must ride the bus assigned unless written or verbal authorization is given by the principal or parent to the transportation office.
  3. The students are to be on time. The bus must maintain its schedule.
  4. The students are not to stand in the roadway while waiting for the bus.
  5. The students are to take their seats as soon as they get on the bus. The students are not to move or changes seats unless instructed by the driver.
  6. The bus driver is in full charge while transporting the students.
  7. The bus driver may assign seats in the bus. Assigned seating will only be done if in the driver's opinion such action will enhance student conduct or safety. The transportation department will review all situations of assigned seats.
  8. The students are not to extend hands, arms or heads out of the windows.
  9. The damage done to the seats or other equipment will be paid for by the offender.
  10. The use of tobacco, illegal substance and alcohol is prohibited on the bus.
  11. The buses are to be kept clean. There is to be no throwing or shooting of any article at any time. Food and drink shall be permitted only with bus driver permission.
  12. The driver is not to load or unload students at other than assigned stops. In the case of an emergency, the proper school official shall issue a written authorization for students to depart at only another established bus stop.
  13. Students are not to leave the bus without the driver's consent. The emergency exit shall not be used unless the driver gives instructions to do so.
  14. When it is necessary to cross the road after leaving the bus, students must wait for the driver's instructions to cross the road in front of the bus.
  15. The student who is temporarily suspended from riding privileges and subsequently found riding any bus shall be permanently suspended.
  16. The students shall give their correct names and addresses when requested to do
  17. Large and/or potentially dangerous objects are not to be brought on the bus.
  18. Animals of any type are not to be brought on the bus.
  19. The students shall be transported to the home and schools and returned only to their assigned bus stop. Transportation to places of employment, baby-sitters,etc. is prohibited, unless prior arrangement has been made with the school principal or the Transportation Department at 358-4543.
